Welcome to Bioceramics 28
I am delighted to invite you to participate in the upcoming 28th Annual Meeting of the International Society for Ceramics in Medicine (Bioceramics 28) scheduled for October 18th to 21st, 2016, in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. Bioceramics 28 will gather clinicians and experts from industry and academia from all over the world to discuss the most recent scientific developments and breakthrough applications of bioceramics. Just as bioceramics have so much to offer humanity in terms of better quality of life, Charlotte, the largest and most beautiful city in North Carolina, has many exciting venues and experiences to offer its visitors as well.
The theme of this year’s meeting is “Multifunctional Bioceramics for Innovative Therapy.” This meeting will highlight the multifaceted application potentials of bioceramics, which we have only begun to explore. For the last four decades, bioceramics have excelled over polymeric materials in the area of bone reconstruction, but it is time to shine new light on the successful multifaceted applications of bioceramics in the treatment of: organ cancer, infection, soft tissue augmentation in urology, and engineering of musculoskeletal tissue in maxillofacial and orthopedic applications. Researchers will convene in Charlotte to demonstrate and discuss the multifaceted platform of bioceramics in drug delivery and regenerative medicine.
The conference platform includes not only a wide diversity of experts from industry and academia but also regulatory experts. Bioceramics28 will feature a special presentation from an expert in FDA regulatory affairs for medical devices. The participation of an FDA governmental expert, plus industrial and academic representation, will provide an excellent environment for strategic development of new biotechnology approaches. The conference will also provide an opportunity for the graduate students who are the next generation of investigators to showcase their research in the competitive forum of an international meeting.
Charlotte is not merely a large city in North Carolina; it also boasts many attractions to enjoy during your stay. We are happy to invite you to a reception in Discovery Place, a science and technology museum in uptown Charlotte. If you are looking to enjoy some excitement yourself, there are six museums and theaters located within just 3 miles of this year’s meeting, including the Bechtler Museum of Modern Art and the Mint Museum of Craft and Design. Charlotte is home to NASCAR and has a rich auto racing history, and it is a pleasure to visit the NASCAR Hall of Fame, which is within walking distance of the conference. The U.S. National Whitewater Center and many other interesting venues are also close to the conference venue. I am honored to welcome you all to Bioceramics 28 for a very exciting meeting, and I look forward to meeting you in beautiful Charlotte, North Carolina USA.
